EastEnders star Laila Morse in RARE snap with Oscar-winning brother Gary Oldman

Laila Morse, 73, who plays Mo in EastEnders, flew to Palm Springs to join her younger brother actor Gary Oldman, 60, and his family as they celebrated the festivities. Gary’s wife Gisele Schmidt posted a snap of the rare sighting of the siblings together as they appeared to enjoy the Christmas break. Taking to Instagram, Giselle shared a few pictures of the family, with one shot showing Laila jokingly mocking the couple as she point at them whilst they shared a kiss. In view of Giselle’s 31,000 followers, she captioned the post: “Love and laughter.”

Another snap showed Laila tend to the food in the kitchen as Gisele commented: “Now that’s a proper English Christmas dinner!”

In a group photo, they all sat around a dinner table, Gisele wrote: “Nothing like getting the family together.”

The siblings reunited following their mother Kathleen Oldman’s death in June earlier this year.

A heartfelt message was shared by Gary and his wife Gisele referred to Kathleen as Kay.

The post read: “It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Kay Oldman – Kay was a woman of great talent and mirth, keeping her loved ones smiling with her quick wit and ready repartee until the end.”

In March this year, Gary thanked his mother when he scooped the Oscar for his leading role as Winston Churchill in The Darkest Hour.

As he delivered his emotional speech to much applause, he concluded: “Put the kettle on mum, I’m bringing Oscar home.”

Meanwhile, Laila’s character Big Mo in EastEnders is wading through emotional turmoil in her family after Hayley Slater accidentally pushed Alfie Moon down the stairs.

On Boxing Day’s episode, Hayley, Kat and Stacey attempted to cover their tracks after the three family members thought Alfie was dead.

Alfie had made a break for it, along with his newborn daughter, Cherry, whom he had fathered with Hayley.

While the whole family were completely stunned when the door to living room was opened by the police and revealed no body, some fans think Alfie had someone on the inside.

The major plot line came to head in the Christmas special with much of the drama surrounding the Slater family.

Hayley’s secret about the true father of her child was revealed sending shockwaves through the family.

The bombshell has been threatening to be exposed for months and Christmas Day was the day Kat found out her husband Alife fathered her cousin’s child.

EastEnders continues tonight on BBC One at 8pm.
