NBA news: Kevin Durant to Knicks revelation, LeBron James comparison made

The 30-year-old, who has won consecutive NBA titles and Finals MVP awards with the Warriors, can become a free agent next summer.

Durant has been linked with the New York Knicks and the Los Angeles Lakers.

However, the small forward appeared to rule out a move to the Lakers, claiming the environment surrounding LeBron James in LA is toxic.

Durant recently revealed he’s keen to make as much money as possible on his next deal.

And Broussard has urged Durant to stay with the Warriors for another season before making a final decision on joining the Knicks.

“This is how he should feel in his 12th year, nobody has to recruit him,” Broussard told Fox Sports.

“‘I’ve won championships, I’ve won MVP’.

“‘You can’t come to me and tell me what you can do for me’.

“Here’s what I think KD should do, I hope he’s watching.

“Assuming they win this championship, he should stay in Golden State one more year, play the first year in San Francisco and go for four straight titles.

“Nobody’s done that since Bill Russell, 1966. Magic, Michael [Jordan], LeBron [James], none of them did that.

“If you win four straight the, ‘He joined a 73 win team’ goes out the window.

“It also gives him another year to look at the Knicks because there is legitimate interest there.

“He can see how the organisation gets itself together.

“He can watch [Kristaps] Porzingis, can he stay healthy for a year? Does he look like the second guy he can play with?

“Do they get Zion [Williamson] in the draft? Does Kyrie [Irving] or Jimmy Butler go there? I think the landscape will be better if he stays one more year – and especially if he wins a ring.”

On his free agency plans next summer, Durant revealed he’s hoping to cash in while he can.

I just want to make sure I get as much money as I can on my next deal, so I can stack up my money and figure it out, he said.

“I want to dictate the environment that I want to be in.

“You can’t give me the bells and whistles. I would rather see what you do on a day-to-day basis. That stuff really doesn’t impress me.

“I just want to see if you’re a real person, if you are going to hold people accountable every day. Are we all coming to work and enjoying basketball every day? Yeah, that’s exactly what I’m getting here (with the Warriors).”
