BRIGHTON 0-1 ARSENAL

33: Good grief, you’d have bet your last pound on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang scoring that! Lucas Torreira sends a delightful chipped pass to send Aubameyang one-on-one with Matt Ryan but the Brighton goalkeeper gets down really sharply and saves with one hand. Should be 2-0.

30: Save! Solly March storms clear down the right touchline after Propper sent him free. The winger cuts it inside to Glenn Murray, whose first-time strike tamely rolls towards the Arsenal goalkeeper.

28: Brighton really woken up. It’s now Arsenal looking sluggish with plenty of wayward passes in the middle of the park. Laurent Koscielny urges his colleagues to take the sting out by keeping possession.

25: Well… mayhem at the Amex Stadium with Glenn Murray thinking he’d equalised for the hosts. It’s chaos inside the Arsenal penalty area and the veteran strike prods the ball out of Leno’s hands and over the line.

Murray thinks referee Anthony Taylor has given the goal and moves to celebrate – but his mood quickly changes when he sees the official has awarded the free-kick instead.

Just seeing a replay now… correct decision. Leno had two hands on the ball.

23: Finally some noise from the home supporters as Pascal Gross’ effort deflects wide for a corner. The mood quickly drops as Bernd Leno punches the delivery clear. It’s just not clicked for Brighton in these early stages.

20: Mesut Ozil is buzzing around in a deeper role this evening – continually looking for that long pass over the Brighton defenders. Just the 75 percent possession for Arsenal after 20 minutes…

17: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has been directly involved in 30 goals in 32 Premier League appearances for Arsenal (23 goals, 7 assists).

15: What a dreadful start from the home side. Such sloppy play. Chris Hughton will be livid with his sides display so far as Lichtsteiner strolls down the right and sends a cross in from the byline. Ryan saves.

13: Davy Pröpper has a proper-ly speculative effort from 30-yards that Bernd Leno gathers with ease. And YES I do write my own jokes, why do you ask?

10: That goal sees Arsenal leapfrog Chelsea into fourth position – four points behind Manchester City. Could Champions League football be returning to Arsenal next year? They could still win the Europa League I suppose.

8: It’s that man once again. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang gives Arsenal the lead with a clinical finish after some terrific work from Alexandre Lacazette.

The French attacker pounces on some hopeless defending from Brighton, before laying it off for the Premier League’s top scorer to finish at the first time of asking.

Perfect start for Unai Emery.

5: That would have been spectacular. Aubameyang collects the ball wide inside the penalty area and attempts a cheeky improvised lob over the back-peddling Ryan. The Brighton stopper makes a fine fingertip save.

3: Decent start on the south coast with both sides having early half-chances. The first comes courtesy of Alexandre Lacazette, who tests Ryan with a long-ranger. Pascal Gross then looks to find Glenn Murray in the middle but the cross has too much on it.

1: And we’re underway folks! Sorry we’ve had such a small amount of time to chat, laugh and reconnect… Arsenal can leapfrog Chelsea with a single point here at the Amex Stadium – but Chelsea will be in action against Watford later today.

The starting XI…

17:10: Well the line-ups arrived an hour ago – but here they are anyway. Mesut Ozil finally starts away from the Emirates, while Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Alexandre Lacazette start together in attack.

Brighton XI: Ryan, Montoya, Duffy, Balogun, Bernardo, Stephens, March, Propper, Gross, Locadia, Murray.

Subs: Button, Bruno, Bong, Kayal, Bissouma, Andone, Knockaert.

Arenal XI: Leno, Kolasinac, Sokratis, Koscielny, Lichtsteiner, Guendouzi, Xhaka, Torreira, Ozil, Lacazette, Aubameyang.

Subs: Cech, Elneny, Ramsey, Maitland-Niles, Iwobi, Nketiah, Willock.

Hello folks!

17:05: Hello everyone, this ridiculous Boxing Day feast continues with Arsenal’s trip to Brighton.

It kind of feels like we’ve had the bacon sandwiches and the Christmas dinner – and now mum brings out the cheese board!

Food analogies aside, this is a huge fixture for both sides today – especially Arsenal given the results earlier today.

Manchester United, Tottenham and Liverpool all secured comfortable wins – but Manchester City LOST to Leicester.

So a win today would see Unai Emery’s Arsenal move to within four points of the Premier League champions.

Ready? Ok, let’s get this started.

BRIGHTON vs ARSENAL

Shane Duffy will replace Lewis Dunk in the centre of defence for Brighton.

Duffy is available after a three-match ban and steps in for his usual defensive partner Dunk, who is now suspended following his red card against Bournemouth. Wingers Alireza Jahanbakhsh (hamstring) and Jose Izquierdo (knee) are still out injured.

Arsenal could be without as many as five defenders for the trip south. Rob Holding (knee), Konstantinos Mavropanos (groin), Nacho Monreal (muscular) and Hector Bellerin (calf) are definitely missing while Shkodran Mustafi (hamstring) is a doubt. Playmaker Henrikh Mkhitaryan (ankle) will also be assessed and striker Danny Welbeck (ankle) is a long-term absentee
