Shane Ritchie, 54, will feature in the Eastenders Christmas special tonight but will soon be gracing a new platform. His co-star, Jessie Wallace, 47, who plays Kat Slater on the BBC soap, recently gushed over Shane over his most recent gig. The actor will be heading to theatre where he will become a drag queen in the West End musical Everybody’s Talking About Jamie. Taking to Twitter, she told her 67,000 followers: “So proud of my man! He will smash it!”
Fans responded to Jessie’s post as one said: “Brilliant. My wife and I have looked to see this in April. Congratulations @realshanerichie. It will be fantastic to see you in the show.”
Another person said: “Shane sure will smash it Jessie! Gonna be awesome! #JamieLondon.”
A third person commented: “So good to see Shane back in EastEnders, it wasn’t the same without Kat and Alfie hope you both stay for a very long time, you are both brilliant actors who are loved by millions.”
Speaking to the Mail Online ahead of his appearance, Shane said: “I need you to start looking for old dresses for me.

“I’m looking to be the most gorgeous drag queen in the West End. I have got the legs for it.”
The soap star will grace the stage as Hugo Loco Channelle at the Apollo theatre from January until May of next year.
Meanwhile, drama is about to hit Albert Square in the festive episode where Alfie Moon, played by Shane, looks to be exposed as a cheater.
Hayley Slater, played by Katie Jarvis, currently has love child Cherry, who she shares with Alfie but Kat Slater is unaware of their affair.
One of the show’s producers, John Yorke, recently revealed there will be drama when Kat finds out Alfie is the father of Hayley’s baby.
“Kat is finally learning to trust Alfie, arguably foolishly, and she’s not aware that Alfie carries a huge secret,” he said.
“Alfie is doing everything he can to keep that secret, but he’s growing increasingly fixated with Cherry, so it’s only going to take one slip-up before something sinister and dark occurs.”
Speaking to the Metro, Shane said: “Only on Christmas Day could this happen.
“Why anyone would want to live in Walford, I have no idea.
“But Christmas Day is massive and I’ve been privileged enough to see some of it.”
He added: “Without giving too much away, this is a tough one to come back from after you see what happens.”
“Someone’s got blood on their hands, is all I’m saying.
