UFC News – Conor McGregor regret revealed by Gunnar Nelson
Conor McGregor’s good friend Gunnar Nelson has revealed he was disappointed he wasn’t able to help ‘The Notorious’ prepare for his UFC 229 grudge match with Khabib Nurmagomedov.
“That was mostly because of my knee, you know,” he told MMA Fighting’s Peter Carroll during the latest episode of the Eurobash Podcast when asked about not being involved in McGregor’s last fight camp. “When the whole [camp] was starting, I wasn’t training.
“I couldn’t do much and it seemed like Conor has a pretty good team around him, as usual.”
Nelson later added: “After the fight I was thinking, ‘Man, I should’ve been there,’ and I was saying that to my coach John [Kavanagh].
“He said to me, ‘To be fair, you were hurt, you couldn’t really train.’
“It would have been only the last bit of the camp that I would have been able to take part in, I guess.”
UFC News – Dana White defends Jon Jones
UFC president Dana White has insisted Jon Jones is not at all at fault for the promotion moving this weekend’s UFC 232 fight card to Los Angeles.
“There’s no bigger f**k-up in the history of the UFC than Jon Jones,” White said whilst speaking to MMA Junkie. “Let’s be honest, OK?
“When you have a guy that’s like Jon Jones, how many people do you really think are going to put their reputation, the UFC’s reputation, the California State Athletic Commission’s reputation, Jeff Novitzky’s reputation, USADA’s reputation – the list goes on and on – on the line for a guy who has f***s up as much as Jon Jones?
“Everybody here and everybody I just mentioned 100 percent believes Jon Jones is innocent.
“You know I’m not afraid to cancel a fight. I’m not going to move a whole f***ing event to Los Angeles because we need Jon Jones to fight on Saturday because money, or we need … none of that s**t.
“Jon Jones has trained for this fight,” he said. “Gustafsson has trained for this fight. This fight needs to happen in this division.
“This fight should happen, and it’s going to happen because he didn’t do anything wrong.”
UFC News – Cris Cyborg vs Amanda Nunes prediction made
UFC women’s flyweight champion Valentina Shevchenko has backed Cris Cyborg to defeat Amanda Nunes in the third or fourth round of their UFC 232 featherweight title fight.
“I would say that the result, Amanda and Cris, Cris will win this fight earlier than a decision,” Shevchenko said.
“She will finish it maybe third, maybe fourth round.”
