The lead vocalist of the band, Riefian Fajarsyah, has urged people to pray that his band members, crew and wife are found. At least 222 people have died and more than 800 are injured following the tsunami. The video shows that the wave, which came from nowhere and when they were performing, washed away the band members and audience members.In an Instagram post Fajarsyah said: “Andi, Herman and Ujang have not been found, please pray for them. Please pray also that my wife will be found soon. Please pray also for Bani and Oki who passed away”.
The band were playing to a large crowd in a marquee at the Tanjung Lesung Beach Resort in Java when the horror unfolded.
The video shows the crow enjoying the music before suddenly the marquee collapses and people are swept away in the scene of sheer panic and chaos.
Seventeen has confirmed the bassist Muhammad Awal Purbani, 36, nicknamed Bani, and road manager Oki Wijaya were killed.
The Indonesian tsunami was triggered by the eruption of the Krakatoa volcano has killed at least 168 people and injured hundreds more.
Locals were forced to flee for their lives as hotels and homes were swept away by the national disaster.
The country does not have the proper equipment to alert them of an approaching tsunami.
Oxfam will go to coastal communities to see how they can help the situation.
The charity said in a statement: “Oxfam, through its partner organisations, is well placed to be able to mobilise quickly in the aftermath of the second tsunami in the region in the past three months. It has now reached more than 100,000 people in Sulawesi affected by the earlier tsunami with aid and services”.
EU chief Jean-Claude Juncker has tweeted: “I wish strength and courage to the emergency service currently at work after the devastating tsunami around the Sunda Strait in Indonesia. The EU Commission stands ready to assist ongoing rescue efforts.”
