That is the verdict of NBA pundit Jalen Rose, who doesn’t envisage a switch to the Lakers for Pelicans star Davis.
The Lakers have made their priority to clinch a deal for Davis as they seek to add a co-star to support LeBron.
Davis – who is tipped as a future MVP – may have to be used in a potential trade involving Brandon Ingram, who hasn’t always clicked with LeBron on the floor.
But Rose thinks if he were in the Pelicans’ shoes, he wouldn’t even entertain the possibility of Davis going to the Lakers.
“If I’m the Pelicans, I’m not allowing this to happen,” Rose said on Get Up.

When asked whether the Lakers would be able to sign Davis next summer, Rose doubts whether the Lakers are in a position to offer enough bargaining chips to make that happen.
Instead, he thinks the Pelicans may have to look elsewhere in return for Davis.
“Nothing. There’s this thing in the league called ‘who says no?’” Rose added when elaborating his thoughts on the possibility of LeBron and Davis becoming team-mates.
“So we look at it from the Lakers perspective and think ‘LeBron and AD look great’.
“But what are the Pelicans getting in return? Not fair value.
“I don’t think he requisite parts will happen if you’re dealing with the Lakers.”
LeBron and Davis will face off on Friday 7.30pm PT (3.30am) UK time when the Lakers are on home court against the Pelicans.
Lakers are currently fourth in the Western Conference.
They have an 18-13 record.
