Manchester United saw their season reach a new low with a 3-1 defeat to Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday afternoon.
It was another drab showing for the Red Devils, who were second best throughout.
In the stands, watching it all unfold from afar, was Woodward and Charlton. The two men were spotted deep in conversation, with the United chief seen waving his arms towards the pitch.
So, what could they have been saying about Jose Mourinho and his awful side?
This is bad
Well, that was most likely the gist of the conversation. Because it really WAS bad.

United are so abject, so dire, and so far from what they used to be. Charlton was part of the Busby Babes – so Mourinho’s marines look even paler in comparison.
Charlton has backed Mourinho despite past claims that he was previously against the appointment of the 55-year-old.
His face, however, seemed to tell a different story.
Why isn’t Pogba playing
For the United fans who don’t stick to FIFA and instead engross themselves in the game, Paul Pogba’s recent plight his no surprise.
Just look at his showing against Valencia last week: it was flat, lacking intensity and, simply put, the France international just didn’t look bothered.
Woodward, however, is a huge Pogba fan. He paid £89million to sign the midfielder in 2016 full of the belief that he could transform this side.
And, as Ander Herrera and Nemanja Matic toiled, Woodward could have been forgiven for pining for Pogba’s introduction.
Maybe I should have backed Jose
Woodward failed Mourinho in the transfer market back in the summer, denying the United boss of the defender he craved.
And yesterday, he could have been confessing to Charlton that he made a major mistake.
Victor Lindelof, making his return from injury, looked nervy from the start. Eric Bailly, a late replacement for Chris Smalling before the game, looked out of his depth having spent much of the last two months out in the cold.
Phil Jones is no United player, while Smalling’s form has also dipped. United needed a defender and that became oh so apparent against Liverpool on Sunday.
A change of manager?
Remember this is all just speculation, but Woodward could easily have told Charlton: Mourinho has to go.
Because when is it going to get better? It isn’t. United players look at odds with their manager and Mourinho himself is no longer his usual charismatic self. He knows this side isn’t good enough.
Woodward has sacked both David Moyes and Louis van Gaal for arguably performing better than this. That means Mourinho is on borrowed time.
Could the names of Mauricio Pochettino and Zinedine Zidane have been uttered at Anfield? It would have been no surprise if they were. In fact, it would be more surprising if they weren’t.
