Rocky Fielding: Sky Sports pundit Carl Froch reveals key to beating Canelo Alvarez

That is the verdict of Sky Sports pundit Carl Froch as the boxers prepare to do battle in New York.

Rocky Fielding puts his WBC super-middleweight title on the line when he takes on Alvarez.

And the Mexican represents something of an unusual proposition for Fielding as he’s stepping up from middleweight.

Alvarez stands at 5 ft 9 in, significantly shorter than 6 ft 1 in Fielding.

While lineal middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez has the pedigree, Froch has identified his height as a disadvantage.

And Froch reckons Fielding can take advantage of that discrepancy to seal what many see as an unlikely win.

“Rocky is going to have to use that jab, box and move, and try to keep Canelo thinking,” Froch told Sky Sports.

“He is going to have to lean on him, use his size and if he can, just try and wear Canelo down.”

Middleweight boxer Jermall Charlo has also highlighted the size difference between Fielding and Alvarez.

And he says the Liverpudlian can make the most of it and take the fight to Alvarez.

“Rocky has to fight like he’s fighting any other fighter in the ring,” Charlo said.

“Canelo’s no threat because he’s coming up to Rocky.

“Rocky’s got to be a man, he can’t be scared, he has to come and fight.”
