LeBron James revelation made by Lakers coach Luke Walton after NBA win over Hornets

LeBron and Ball created a little slice of history in the 128-100 win over the Hornets on Saturday.

Walton saw LeBron strut his stuff during his 30 minutes on the floor, with the four-time MVP weighing in with a triple double – 24 points, 12 rebounds and 11 assists.

Ball also came of age in the  contest, delivering a triple-double too with 16 points, 10 rebounds and 10 assists to boot.

In doing so, LeBron and Ball became the first Lakers team-mates to both score a triple-double in the same game since 1982.

Ball and LeBron also became the first duo from the same team to achieve the feat since Jason Kidd and Vince Carter for the Brooklyn Nets (then New Jersey Nets) in 2007 while they were playing for the New Jersey Nets.

While Walton acknowledged James’ efforts, he instead preferred to reflect on Ball’s contribution.

“They play basketball and they make the right reads,” Walton said when asked for his thoughts on the Ball and LeBron triple-double.

“So I thought they were both very aggressive at both ends of the floor and making sure we didn’t lose two in a row.

“That is something we talk about as a team.

“They are both such brilliant playmakers that when they are aggressive and get in the lane, it puts a lot of pressure on a team’s defense.

“LeBron we are kind of used to him doing that, but I thought Zo made some real nice strides tonight as trying to continue to get downhill.”

Walton also explained why Ball was the difference maker, adding: “I thought Zo’s defence going over on Kemba Walker was a big reason for our success tonight.”

Walker was well below par for the Hornets.

Before the game, he was ninth in the NBA for shooting, averaging 25.6 points per game.

But against the Lakers, he finished with a season-low of four.
