Chelsea news: Barcelona star Jordi Alba makes Alvaro Morata transfer admission

That’s the view of Barca defender Jordi Alba, who has admitted he is a fan of the Spanish striker.

Morata has been linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge and reports have suggested that he could switch to the Nou Camp.

The striker’s agents are trying to engineer a move away from Chelsea – and intermediaries have made contact with the Spanish club about a possible move in January.

Barcelona need cover for former Liverpool striker Luiz Suarez, who is having stem cell treatment for a knee problem and there are doubts about his long-term fitness for the second half of the season.

Morata is believed to want regular football having struggled at Chelsea with his confidence dipping.

And Alba has spoken out on a potential move to Barcelona for the 26-year-old.

“Morata is a player that I appreciate a lot, he has been a top player for many years,” Alba said.

“At the end, it’s the club’s [decision] if they want to sign him or not, as with any other player.

“If the rumours are true, he would be very welcome, as all the new players [are].”

Former England star Paul Ince admits Chelsea have problems going forward.

“The problem with Chelsea is that they don’t score enough goals,” he recently said on Football Focus.

“Eden Hazard, Alvaro Morata, Olivier Giroud they don’t score enough.

“Maurizio Sarri said they hit the ground running, and people thought this is it, but he still has players to bring in.

“Every team has blips, Tottenham were fantastic and Wolves had enough chances to win the game.

“He is a fantastic manager and he went down to the lower levels – young aspiring coaches and managers can make their way up and he is a prime example of that.”
