The Lakers have been linked with a potential trade for the veteran, and have been tipped to complete the move by this weekend.
Ariza, currently at the Phoenix Suns, previously spent two years at the Lakers.
He was part of the 2009 NBA title winning team.
And now, he could be brought back to the franchise in order to help the team make a run at the NBA Play-Offs.
Speaking on the NBA podcast ‘The Starters’, Leigh Ellis explained why he believes the trade will happen.

“It’s hard to see what the downside is for the Lakers,” he said.
“If he costs them KCP [Kentavious Caldwell-Pope] and some sort of future second round pick, do it.
“The Lakers, this isn’t a season where they just want to sort of do okay.
“They want to really contend.
“And the West outside of the Warriors is kind of open right now.
“Ariza is a veteran, he’s been there, he’s won a championship, they know what they’re getting.
“Why would you not get him if you’re the Lakers?”
According to Ellis’ co-host, Trey Kerby, LeBron James could have a hand in ensuring the deal is done.
“I just love the idea of a LeBron team-mate in James Jones who went to a million finals with him, finally getting a job in a front office and hooking him up with pieces that he needs to maybe make another run to the finals,” he said.
“Ariza will fit in perfectly.”
