Kevin Durant drops MAJOR hint over his future amid LeBron James Lakers trade rumours

The Warriors star has the opportunity to become a free agent at the end of this season.

He has a player option on his contract, meaning that if he wants to, he can trigger a one-year extension to the deal.

If he did this, he would earn a guaranteed £29 million ($31 million) for the year.

However, many believe that Durant will choose to leave the franchise and take his incredible talents elsewhere.

Durant has remained relatively silent on the matter, and has refused to get drawn into talking about the upcoming free agency.

However, now the star has dropped a major hint over his future, and it is good news for Warriors fans.

His comments came after the Warriors were named ‘athletes of the year’.

“I know for a fact that we’ll all get our jerseys retired,” he said.

“We’ll probably all get statues here in front of the Chase Center.

“We’ll be Bay Area legends forever.

“People will recognize this team and this run forever in this area.

“Steve Kerr is gonna be immortalized and he’s gonna be a legend forever — Bob Myers as well, and Joe Lacob.

“That’s what I think about. And I think that’s going to happen.

“I think about 50 years from now, when they have our whole team on the Chase Center floor — or whatever the arena is at that point — and all the fans are gonna be cheering for us and reminiscing on those days; all of them — good and bad days — even what me and Draymond went through.”

This year, the Warriors have the chance to three-peat, and Durant is well aware of the magnitude of the task at hand.

He spoke about the appreciation that sporting legends have when they walk around and are seen by fans, and said he wants that for him and his team.

“We got an opportunity to do something like that,” he said.

“Forget everything else — let’s just do that because we’re gonna be legends here forever.

“No matter how many points you score, (or) how many MVPs or Finals MVPs — that bullshi* that they want to throw out — we are champs in the Bay Area forever.

“We’re gonna get statues and our jerseys retired — that’s the coolest thing ever.”
