DESTINY 2 DOWN – UPDATE ONE: Bungie has confirmed that Destiny 2 servers will be down for a while long.
The Destiny 2 makers said server maintenance has been extended by an hour as they investigate issues causing a number of errors in the online shooter.
Bungie said Destiny 2 servers should be back online by 8pm GMT, which is 12pm pacific time and 3pm eastern time.
The Bungie Support Twitter posted: “Destiny 2 maintenance has been extended by 1 hour.
“Investigations are ongoing regarding issues causing elevated WEASEL, CHICKEN, CENTIPEDE, and GUITAR errors in Destiny 2.

The Destiny 2 server issues hit on the same day that The Dawning event was scheduled for release.

Independent outage monitor Down Detector has registered a spike in Destiny 2 down reports.
Out of those affected some 66 per cent of Destiny 2 fans are experiencing server connection problems while a third have been hit with login issues.
Down Detector is an independent outage monitor which tracks social mentions to detect when popular online services go down.
The official Bungie Help Twitter account has posted to confirm that they are investigating the Destiny 2 issues.
They tweeted: “We are investigating an issue causing some Destiny 2 players to receive WEASEL, CHICKEN, and CENTIPEDE errors.”
Bungie also added: “Due to an issue, we have temporarily disabled the ability to reclaim the Scourge of the Past Sparrow “Always on Time” from Collections. We will provide additional information when available.”
The Destiny 2 server issues come after the release of Destiny update 2.1.2 earlier today.
As the Destiny 2 server issues hit fans took to Twitter to report problems they’ve encountered.
One fan tweeted: “Is anyone else having the contacting destiny servers like every 5 seconds? #Destiny2”.
Another posted: “I’m having serious issues connecting to the Destiny 2 Servers today on PC – is this a known issue or is it just me @BungieHelp”.
One added: “What has happened to destiny servers #Destiny2”.
And one wrote: “Please fix the “Attention Contacting Destiny 2 Server” that we get on EU servers at least dunno about the other servers.”
