Fortnite update 7.01 early patch notes: Sword weapon, new LTM, vehicle changes

update 7.01 is coming soon to Battle Royale on PS4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, iOS, Android, PC and Macs.

Fortnite update 7.01 is the first patch launch since the release of the brand new Battle Pass last week.

The Fortnite season 7 Battle Pass brought with it ziplines, airplanes and a snow map section of the Battle Royale playing field.

And now Epic Games are planning a number of post-launch changes coming in Fortnite update 7.01.

The new Fortnite update release date has not been officially revealed, but Epic Games are already teasing a new feature “coming soon”.

And with Fortnite content updates typically launching a week after a major patch, fans are likely to see Fortnite version 7.01 get released soon.

Express.co.uk expects Fortnite update 7.01 to launch on Tuesday December 11.

One major addition likely to be coming with Fortnite update 7.01 is a brand new sword weapon.

Today the official Fortnite Twitter appeared to tease that swords were coming to Battle Royale any moment now.

A teaser posted on the Fortnite Twitter showed what looks like The Ice King pulling a sword stuck in snow by its handle.

Alongside the teaser the Fortnite Twitter posted: “Coming soon… a weapon fit for a King”.

The news comes after leaked files from the Fortnite 7.0.0 patch suggested a new LTM was coming that is focused on a sword.

Could the upcoming Fortnite sword be a special weapon that works in a similar way to the Infinity Gauntlet in the Thanos Avengers LTM earlier this year?

Elsewhere, Fortnite update 7.01 may include changes to vehicles if Epic Games managed to get it through in time.

The news was revealed by Fortnite design lead Eric Williamson on the Battle Royale Reddit.

He confirmed a new HUD element will be getting added which shows how much health a vehicle has before it gets destroyed.

This will especially be useful for Fortnite players who jump into the recently released plane vehicle for a dogfight.

However, he said he ‘believes’ it has missed the cutoff for the 7.01 update.

Fans will surely be holding out hope it managed to get added just in time, but if not it’ll be added in next week’s Fortnite update.

The Fortnite Trello board has also revealed changes that will be getting fixed in the next update.

Fortnite Mobile players will see a camera issue resolved while Fortnite Creative players will see these problems fixed.
