That is according to Sports physician Ingo Frobose, who thinks the Arsenal star’s dedication to the computer game could be putting his football career at risk.
Ozil, 30, has not played for Arsenal since November 11, when he was hooked after 75 minutes during the 1-1 draw with Wolves.
He has missed four games since, including the north London derby and Wednesday night’s clash with Manchester United.
And Unai Emery incredibly admitted he didn’t know where he was after the win over Tottenham on Sunday.
Arsenal claimed Ozil was out after suffering a back spasm, but he has now returned to training and could return against Huddersfield on Saturday.

The average game of Fortnite takes roughly 20 minutes.
Based on those numbers, Ozil has racked up a total playing time of 104,420 minutes, equating to 1740 hours or 72 days.
Over the course of a year that works out at five hours worth of Fortnite action every single day.
And Sports physician Frobose confirmed to German newspaper BILD that he believes the game may be causing, or at least exacerbating Ozil’s back trouble.
“Yes, that [Fortnite] can be the cause of Ozil’s back problems,” said the University Professor for Prevention and Rehabilitation in Sport at the German Sports University of Cologne.
“A competitive athlete feels the consequences of hours of inactivity much faster than a non-athlete.
“This is because Ozil’s physical structures are highly tuned due to his intense training.
“A non-athlete, however, does not notice that.”
With Ozil missing four crucial games of Arsenal’s unbeaten run many have begun speculating about his future and suggesting he could leave the club.
Arsenal legend Ian Wright claims his performances have not been good enough to warrant paying him £350,000 a week.
“As good as [Henrikh] Mkhitaryan and Ozil are, in respect to what they’re earning we’re talking about £500,000-a-week,” Wright said on BBC 5 Live Sport earlier this week.
“I do not believe that Arsenal can afford to be paying that sort of money without getting a return, especially when you look at what they’re trying to do at the moment.
“You’re going to lose [Aaron] Ramsey as well who probably wants £200,000 so we’re going up to £700,000-a-week in money that we’re going to have to give.
