Fortnite downtime appears to have knocked servers out of commission, leaving players unable to access the Season 7 content. Fortnite players have flooded social media to share screengrabs of failed login attempts. One Twitter user, @3secvirus tweeted at Epic Games a screenshot of a non-responsive login, reading: Fortnite servers not responding. “Continuing to try, please be patient. Check https://status.epicgames.com for details.
Another twitter user, @EdistByAXE, said: “Website says servers are up but you guys still down.”
Keith Gourley, @KeithGourley30, wrote: “The website says the servers are up but when I try to play it says servers undergoing maintenance.
And @AndresBoss123 asked: “What happened to the servers in the game it says that is under maintenance and when I go to the server status says that is working?”
Many more users directed similar messages directly at Epic Games on Twitter, so what exactly is going on?
Server downtime for the Season 7 update officially kicked off at 9am UK time today (4am Eastern and 1am Pacific.)
As the update kicked off, Epic tweeted: “Iceberg, dead ahead! Downtime for the Season 7 update has begun.
“Bundle up with the Patch Notes to see what awaits.”
Fortnite’s seasonal updates typically wrap up in one to two hours but Epic seems to be ironing out some wrinkles in the system.
At 10.20am GMT, the official server status website announced “All Systems Operational” across all services.
A quick update now shows Fortnite downtime is still underway with Website and Forums the only Fortnite services online right now.
Game services, Login, Parties, Voice Chat, Matchmaking and the Store are all under maintenance.
Epic said: “Scheduled maintenance is currently in progress. We will provide updates as necessary.
“This scheduled maintenance affects: Fortnite (Game Services, Login, Parties, Friends, and Messaging, Voice Chat, Matchmaking, Stats and Leaderboards, Store).”
