Fortnite season 8: When is Fortnite season 8 release date? When does season 7 end?

season 8 release date could have been revealed by Epic Games. Here’s what we know about when season 8 could start and the season 7 end date.

The Fortnite season 8 Battle Pass is out now and brings with it over 100 exclusive new rewards for Battle Royale players to unlock.

Typically a Fortnite Battle Pass season will last for ten weeks – but this time around it’s slightly different.

In a post online Epic Games confirmed that Fortnite season 7 is being extended by two weeks because of the Christmas break.

So that means that fans will have longer to unlock everything in Fortnite season 7 and a lengthier build-up to the Fortnite season 8 release date.

Epic Games said: “The Epic Games team will be taking its own holiday break this winter, so season 7 will be extended by two weeks and end on February 28.

“We’ll still have new updates coming out during that break period bringing new items and challenges.

“You can plan on more holiday cheer to hit before the New Year as well!”

New Fortnite seasons have historically launched in the hours after the preceding one finished.

So, it looks like the Fortnite season 8 release date will be Thursday February 28.

In terms of a start time, Epic Games typically begins server downtime for their new Fortnite seasons at 9am UK time, which is 4am eastern and 1am pacific.

So, for fans in the UK Fortnite season 8 is likely to launch at 9am on the big release day in February 2019.

You can bet there will be plenty of new skins, challenges and maybe even some new map locations in Fortnite season 8.

But it’s unclear what the Fortnite season 8 Battle Pass theme will be and what major event could spark it.

Fortnite season 7 has a festive theme, with snow covered POIs added to the Battle Royale map after an iceberg collided with it.

In fact, the past two Fortnite season Battle Passes have been in keeping with seasonal events going on around the time of launch.

The Fortnite season 6 Battle Pass launched in the run-up to Halloween and had a spooky theme to it, with plenty of Halloween skins.

While Fortnite season 7 launched in the run up to Christmas, hence the Xmas trees getting added to the Battle Royale map and the snowy new map locations.
