Fortnite Season 7 DOWNTIME: Server status latest for update 7.0 release

Fortnite Season 7 scheduled maintenance has been announced today by the development team behind the hit Battle Royale title.

Epic Games has confirmed that servers will need to go offline to make way for the big update they have planned for tomorrow, December 6.

This will mean that Fortnite will be unplayable until the server status is confirmed to be online again.

It also gives us a good idea how long it will take for the whole process to be completed and Fortnite Season 7 to start.

From what has been shared today, Fortnite servers will start going offline at around 9am in the UK.

This will be preceded by Epic Games kicking players out of live games, usually 20 minutes before this allotted downtime.

“Stay frosty! Downtime for Season 7 begins December 6 at 4 AM ET (0900 UTC),” the message from Epic Games reads.

Fortnite Season 7 patch notes will be shared during this planned downtime and will include all the big news for fans.

A new trailer is also expected to be shared during the server maintenance, offering up details on the new season.

From what has been teased so far, Epic Games are planning a Winter season during Fortnite Season 7.

This will probably mean a lot of snow inspired items in the battle pass, as well as seasonal map changes.

This could mean parts of the map being tweaked to include new mountainous areas, and snow to hide in.

As mentioned above, full details on this will be shared in the upcoming patch notes.

HOW LONG WILL FORTNITE DOWNTIME LAST?

Based on how past seasons have gone, downtime on December 6 could last several hours.

Depending on just how big update 7.0 is going to be, we could be looking at Fortnite servers going back online at around midday.

However, it should also be noted that Epic Games could change their plans at any time.

Problems with the updating process and maintenance could mean things take longer and push back when Season 7 will start.

A lot of what Epic Games has got planned for Season 7 is still under wraps, however, we do know of one big changing coming soon.

A new mode is being added to the game called Fortnite Creative, and it looks to be a special sandbox feature.

WHAT IS FORTNITE CREATIVE?

It’s a brand new way to experience the world of Fortnite, available on December 6.

Players will be able to design new games, race around the island, as well as battle their friends in new ways.

This will all be happening on their own private island where everything you make is saved from session to session.

“Battle Pass owners will have access to a private island for the first week of Season 7,” Epic Games confirms.

“During this early access week Battle Pass owners can invite their friends to play on their island.

“Starting December 13, all players will have access to a private island for free.”

It looks like the first weeks of the new Creative mode are going to be used as a beta by Epic Games.

Offering it to Battle Pass users first will no doubt help to drive sales of the cosmetic pass, which is a big part of any new season launch.

Epic Games has also warned that things will be a little rough with Creative Mode during the start of Season 7, so fans should be prepared for a bumpy ride.
