PS4 fans are gearing up for a big 2019, with hopes that a number of major exclusives will arrive on Sony’s PlayStation console.
Death Stranding, Days Gone, The Last of Us Part 2 and Ghost of Tsushima are some of the major PS4 exclusives that could land in 2019.
With the Game Awards 2018 just on the horizon, updates on some of these PS4 titles could be revealed.
And it looks like one of these titles is expected to have a big PS4 announcement – which may have leaked early.
Death Stranding has had a big presence at the Game Awards for the past two years, with new trailers for the PS4 exclusive debuting at the 2016 and 2017 shows.
So it seems likely that there will be a Death Stranding announcement again at this year’s show, especially given a recent tease by Geoff Keighley.
The Game Awards creator recently said that Metal Gear Solid and Death Stranding visionary Hideo Kojima is “always” at the show in “some form”.
And it may be that Kojima-san will be appearing at the Game Awards 2018 to officially announce the Death Stranding PS4 release date.
These rumours have been sparked after the Twitter for Walmart Canada may have revealed the Death Stranding release date.
On Twitter a user named ‘Yinob’ responded to a tweet by Keighley with a screengrab of the Walmart website.
The screengrab showed the Walmart listing for Death Stranding which said it would ship on June 30 2019.
Yinob captioned the picture “elaborate please” and the Walmart Canada Twitter responded: “As per the information station for this item, this is a pre-order that will ship in June.”
This could possibly reveal the release window for Death Stranding and Keighley gave a cheeky warning to the retailer in a following tweet.
He posted on Twitter on Wednesday: “Today we start transitioning into #TheGameAwards world premiere land.
“There are a LOT of games we won’t be talking about at all until the show (All eyes on you @WalmartCanada) but we do have some great things to tease/announce in the week ahead.”
The Walmart Canada Twitter later responded to say the Death Stranding release date on their site was a “placeholder”.
It remains to be seen if this is the general release date window for the Death Stranding launch or not.
But either way fans shouldn’t have too much longer to wait.
The Game Awards is being held in LA next week with it kicking off at 5.30pm local time on Thursday.
For fans in the UK the Game Awards 2018 will take place at 1.30am on Friday.
