Mark Labbett weight loss: The Chase star reveals how he dropped three stone

But just how did the Chaser shed the pounds?

When quizzed by Stacey Solomon on why his attitude to his weight loss has changed, Mark said being told he had diabetes pushed him to get his health on track.

He replied: “It was the diabetes. My colleague Paul Sinha also got the diagnosis and he rapidly lost two stone and he went from being diabetic to pre or non-diabetic. I’m waiting for my next check up and I’m hoping the figures are going to be better.

“I know that even if I’m lucky enough to push myself back to non-diabetic, I’ve got to treat myself as though I’m diabetic from now on.”

As a result, Mark has cut out sugar and is eating well.

He also said the arrival of his son changed his lifestyle for the better, adding: ”I’m still eating very well – I’m just cutting out sugar because of the type two diabetes. That and running around after an active two-year-old.”

Mark also said: “I want to be around long enough to see the little man get to university.”

Andrea McLean asked the TV star whether his weight loss focus was to look better or to improve his health, and the 53 year old revealed he still allows himself the odd treat.

Mark added: “But the difference is it’s the odd sin instead of – there’s a lovely, huge box of Christmas chocolates and they’re all mine.

“That’s my problem. I have no limit when it comes to chocolate I could just keep going all day.”

Mark revealed earlier this year that he’d shed a whopping three stone, and has managed to maintain his size since.

During his appearance on The Wright Stuff this summer he was quizzed by host Matt Barbet on his diet.

Matt began the conversation by asking Mark:“You are a fine figure of a man, but you’ve actually lost quite a bit of weight recently, haven’t you?

“Why did you lose the weight, was there a medical reason behind it?”

Mark then revealed the unusual secret behind his weight loss, replying: “I’ve lost about three stone. It was the diabetes and baby diet.”

After recently having a baby with his wife Katie, The Chase star has overhauled his diet, joining other celebrities in cutting out sugar.

“Obviously, it just showed how much sugar I was eating, so I simply cut that out,” he told the show’s panel.
