James Bond 25 director Cary Fukunaga will NOT rule out return of Christoph Waltz’ Blofeld

Danny Boyle’s replacement is hard at work preparing to shoot Bond 25 in March next year. Originally Daniel Craig’s final film was set to start shooting on December 3, but with a new director now on board, he needs some time to get everything together. Especially as Boyle’s screenwriter John Hodge left with him, meaning they’re still working on the script. Speaking with Inquirer.net, Cary was asked if the rumours Waltz’s Blofeld and Ben Whishaw’s Q would be back for Bond 25 were true.

He replied: “Who is saying those rumours?

“We haven’t finished the screenplay, so there is no way that anyone could know that.

“Those are two extraordinary actors, so if there is space for them in the story, I would absolutely want them there.

“But I don’t know yet what it’s going to be.”

Back in September Bond insider Baz Bamigboye said: “The Purvis and Wade treatment they wrote earlier was already signed off before the bromance with Danny Boyle and John Hodge began.”

He alleged that the duo “will develop their ‘treatment’ into a script.”

However, it’s not clear if this means going back to their original story – rumoured to be titled Shatterhand, a remake of On Her Majesty’s Secret Service – or a rewrite of the Hodge concept.

Bond 25 will be released in UK cinemas on February 14, 2020.
