Kate Middleton’s most expensive dresses revealed – and they total over £20,000

Kate Middleton is a fan of designer garments, especially British fashion house Alexander McQueen.

The stunning brunette mother-of-three is also a big fan of British designs Jenny Packham.

While she often wears UK hughstreet brands, occasionally the Duchess dazzles in high end labels with big price tags.

What are some of the most expensive dresses she has ever worn?

In December 2011, the year she married Prince William, Kate wore a black velvet, custom Alexander McQueen creation to the Sun Military Awards.

It is estimated to be worth £5,497.59.

Earlier that year Kate had worn another Alexander McQueen creation.

The Duchess wore a lilac Alexander McQueen gown to the BAFTA Brits To Watch party at the Belasco Theatre. It is thought to be worth £3654.66.

The next year Kate stunned in a teal Jenny Packham dress, with lace cap sleeves and a pretty belt at the ‘Our Greatest Team Rises -BOA Olympic Concert’ at the Royal Albert Hall on 11 May 2012.

It was estimated to be worth £4038.37.

In India Kate stunned in a gorgeous custom-made Jenny Packham Navy Gown. The blue gown, thought to be worth £3,500, was worn by the Duchess in Mumbai on April 10 2016.

At Royal Ascot 2016 Kate wore a Dolce & Gabanna white lace dress worth £3,450.

The total cost of these gowns adds up to a whopping £20,140.62.

But how does the price of Kate’s wardrobe compare to Meghan Markle’s?

Meghan Markle’s wardrobe contains some very expensive clothes.

This includes Meghan Markle’s wedding dress, which cost £387,000, more than Kate Middleton’s, fashion experts estimated.

She also wore a £58,158 Ralph & Russo dress for her official engagement pictures.

Kate Middleton’s engagement dress, on the other hand, can be bought from brand Issa London for £99 full price.

What doesn’t Meghan Markle wear the Queen’s jewellery like Kate does?

How did Kate Middleton become a royal?

Early life

Kate Middleton, or Catherine, Duchess of Cambridge, was born on 9 January 1982 at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, England.

She was born to Michael and Carole Middleton, a former flight dispatcher and air hostess. The couple founded a party supplies company, Party Pieces, in 1987 – now estimated to be worth £30 million.

Kate has a younger sister Pippa Matthews, 34, and a younger brother James Middleton, 31.

Education

Kate and her family moved to Amman, Jordan, in 1984, where the future Duchess was educated at an English-speaking nursery school.

After moving back to Berkshire the family sent Kate to private school, St Andrews School. She went on to briefly study at Downe House before moving onto Marlborough College where she boarded.

For university the young Kate attended the University of St Andrews in Fife, Scotland. Here she was awarded an undergraduate MA (2:1 Hons) in history of art.

Relationship with Prince William

Kate met Prince William when they were both studying at St Andrews, and both living in St Salvator’s Hall. Famously, William reportedly took a fancy to Kate after she wore a see-through dress during a fashion show.

In 2003 the couple began dating and lived together during their second year of university.

The couple split in April 2007, however, in October they were back together.

Wedding

Prince William proposed to Kate Middleton with his late mother Princess Diana’s engagement ring in October 2010. The couple were holidaying in Kenya at the time.

On 29 April 2011 they married at Westminster Abbey with a whopping 26 million watching the event live as Kate became a member of the Royal Family.

Kate wore an Alexander McQueen dress worth a reported £250,000 on the big day.

Kate assumed the title “Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge” and also become the Duchess of Cambridge on the day.
