Aaron Rodgers: Packers star now doing SAME thing as Tom Brady – NFL EXCLUSIVE

That’s the verdict of former NFL star Jason Bell, who thinks the Packers quarterback can get even better.

Rodgers takes his team to Minneapolis tonight to face the Minnesota Vikings in what is essentially a must-win game for both sides.

That’s especially true for the Packers, who are 4-5-1 and a game behind the Vikings (5-4-1) in the race for the sixth and final playoff berth in the NFC.

Winning on the road remains the challenge for the Packers with a record of 0-5 away from Lambeau Field this season.

The Vikings got the better of Green Bay last term while Rodgers was out with a shoulder injury.

But despite a mixed run of results, the 34-year-old has impressed in spells this season, which Bell attributes to a change in Rodgers’ game.

The former cornerback believes Rodgers is now displaying shades of Brady when executing plays for the Packers.

“I think what he’s doing a little better – and not to get too technical – is playing within the play,” Bell exclusively told Express Sport.

“So if something is supposed to happen in a certain amount of time, like two or three seconds – it happens there.

“He makes a lot of plays off-script, moving around, making things happen and we all love it.

“What you see with Tom Brady is everything is exactly how it’s supposed to happen and we’re seeing more of that from Aaron Rodgers now.

“Aaron Rodgers is truly in his prime and he’s going to get better which is frightening.”

The key for the Packers getting a breakthrough victory will be situational football.

They haven’t fared well in those departments this season on offense, ranking 19th on third down (38.4 per cent conversion rate) and 14th in the red zone (59.4 percent touchdown rate).

Minnesota’s defense is No 1 in both areas and they are well known for their dominance on third down.

“They’re aggressive,” Packers coach Mike McCarthy said of the Vikings’ defense.

“They have a tremendous front. I think Harrison Smith does a tremendous job with the pre-snap diagnosis. They do a good job with disguise and diagnosis. They hold things until the last second. They have some playmaking ability to take chances and things like that. So they really test you schematically. It’s a veteran group, so their anticipation and awareness is very high. This is an excellent defense.”
