Black Friday CHAOS as SHOOTING sparks massive stampede in New Jersey

The Elizabeth Police Department said in a Facebook post that police officers and medical personnel had responded to two medical calls at the Jersey Gardens Mall. Elizabeth Mayor Chris Bollwage claimed two men got into a fight near the Tommy Hilfiger and Marshalls stores around 8pm (1am GMT) and that “at one point, one man shot the other”. He wrote in a statement: “There was an incident earlier this evening at The Mills at Jersey Gardens.

“A male was shot in the wrist between the hallway of Tommy Hilfiger and Marshall’s.

“No suspect has been apprehended and the victim is not cooperating on identifying the suspect.

“Police are reviewing camera footage.

“The mall has been evacuated and all shoppers are out.

“No one is in danger at the moment.”

Police are still looking for the shooter while the man shot was taken to university Hospital in Newark.

The shooting started a stampede in the shopping centre, which saw at least 25.000 shoppers over the course of Black Friday.

Mobile phone footage from the scene shows terrified shoppers fleeing for their lives or ducking to the floor, while a man yells: “Get down!”

Shopper Junior Vallejo was with his family when he heard a shot.

Tweeting pictures from the scene, he said: “Everyone is being evacuated and there are some still too afraid to leave the stores.”

The Mills Jersey Gardens shopping centre was set to stay open until 10pm but it has now been closed.
