Thanksgiving 2018: Trump pardons TURKEY and jokes Democrats will contest vote

After pardoning the turkey, Donald Trump said: “The winner of this vote was decided by a fair and open election conducted on the White House website. “This was a fair election. “Unforuntately, Carrots refused to concede and demanded a recount and we’re still fighting with Carrots.

The President’s jokes come after increased tension in the state of Florida over a recount for the race for governor between Democratic hopeful Andrew Gillum and Republican Ron DeSantis.

On Sunday it was also confirmed that the longtime Democratic Senator Bill Nelson had lost his seat to the Florida governor Rick Scott.

Mr Trump continued: “And I will tell you we’ve come to a conclusion.

“Carrots, I’m sorry to tell you the result did not change.

“Even though Peas and Carrots have received a Presidential pardon.

“I have warned them that House Democrat are likely to issue them both with subpoenas.

Former US UK ambassador Peter Westmacott has said the Democrats may open a series of investigations as they take a majority in the House of Representatives.

During an interview with Sky News he said: “This gives them a lot of leeway, meaning they can begin hearing, start subpoenaing people, documents, tax returns, and phone records.”

Mr Trump seemed to make light of this possibility indicating he is aware of the Democrats newfound strength and insinuates they will display this power in the most minor of instances.
