Brigitte Macron and Queen Mathilde both show flashes of leg as they meet in Belgium

Brigitte Macron, 65, and Queen Mathilde og Belgium, 45, were deep in conversation as they walked in to the Royal Palace today.

Brigitte wore a chic grey knee length dress with matching coat for her arrival, giving a flash of her legs.

The dress and coat featured tiny white stripes which running through, and gold buttons completed the jacket.

Brigitte carried a £2610 Louis Vuitton tote in one hand, and wore a pair of black, blue and maroon leather gloves to keep her hands warm in the bitter November weather.

Her blonde hair was freshly blowdried, and sat touching her shoulders.

Emmanuel Macron’s wife opted for heavy smoked eye makeup as the final touch to her look.

Queen Mathilde chose an entirely different outfit, wearing a vibrant red dress with matching overcoat.

The dress featured a sheer panel at the top, showing off a little of the royal’s décolletage.

A skinny red belt held the coat in at the waist and added definition to Mathilde’s frame.

She also wore a pair of gloves, although she chose beige ones which matched her small handbag.

Mum-of-five Mathilde strode in to the Palace in a pair of creamy beige court shoes with a mid-heel.

Completing her look was a small red hat, which she wore a classic updo.

A pair of pearl and diamond earrings could be seen twinkling in her ears.

Brigitte and Emmanuel are in Belgium for two days and will take in the best of Brussels while they are there.

As well as spending time with royals, the Macrons also met with Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel and his partner Amelie Derbaudrenghien, before attending a meeting at Egmont Palace.

Brigitte Macron: Five facts about the French President’s wife

Family

Brigitte Trogneux, as she was born, is the youngest of six children and grew up in Amiens, France.

Her parents were owners of Chocolaterie Trogneux, which had been run by five generations of the family and is now run by Brigitte’s nephew.

Previous marriage

Before her marriage to the current French President, Brigitte was married to a banker, André-Louis Auzière.

The couple wed in June 1974 and had three children before finally divorcing in January 2006. She married Emmanuel in 2007.

Career

Brigitte is famed for being her husband’s secondary school teacher, but she has had a varied working life.

In 1982 she was a press secretary at the Nord-Pas-de-Calais Chamber of Commerce, moving in to teaching two years later.

First Lady attempt

In 2017, Emmanuel made an attempt to give his wife an official paid role in French administration, as First Lady.

This was dashed, however, after an online petition against the move gained 300,000 signatures. Her role has stayed unofficial, although as with previous President’s wives, she does have a small team of staff.

Louis Vuitton

The French luxury fashion house began a relationship with Brigitte in 2015, loaning her outfits for public appearances.

Speaking to business news magazine Challenges, her team confirmed: “Everything has been noted in a register and the loan outs have been systematically returned. And she only wears their outfits for public appearances.”
