NBA news: Kevin Durant reveals reason for Warriors slump after Spurs loss

The current NBA champions lost their third game in a row on Sunday as they were beaten 104-92 by San Antonio Spurs.

It follows defeats by Houston Rockets and Dallas Mavericks to leave the Warriors 12-6.

Five of them defeats have come away from the Oracle Arena and Golden State head home as they face Oklahoma City Thunder on Wednesday night (3.30am UK).

The poor run of form has coincided with Steph Curry being out injured, the two-time MVP having missed the last six matches with a groin strain.

He is unlikely to be back against OKC but Durant, who made 26 points against the Spurs, has admitted the Warriors’ challengers currently have the upper-hand.

“Teams know what we want to do,” Durant said after the defeat to San Antonio.

“They want to force us inside the three-point line, but I thought we had some solid links we just missed tonight.

“We have to get ready for the next game.

“We are playing different line-ups so we are trying to find out the best way for us to get good shots.

“I know Warriors basketball is five, six, seven passes in possession but we’re not going to get that at this point.

“We throw it five or six times and it’ll end up in a guys hands who is trying to give it back to someone else.

“We don’t want to make passes just to make passes.

“We’ve got to get the ball rolling as quickly as possible just to find a good shot in each possession.

“It’s still early in the season and we’ve got guys still trying to learn our system.

“Guys are filling in and trying to do their best jobs.

“They’re picking it up pretty fast, we are struggling shooting the basketball but we are trying hard.”
