Google Chrome rival offers very a tempting reason to switch your browser

There’s no question that Chrome still dominates when it comes to web browsers.

software has been installed over two billion times and recent stats suggest it now has a 53 percent share of the market.

Although this way of accessing the web is hugely popular a new feature from Moziila’s Firefox could make internet users consider making the switch.

The firm has just announced that it is introducing a new in-built extension that allows its users to instantly check prices when shopping online.

Called Price Wise, the latest experimental feature is designed to give users more choice and transparency when buying products on the web.

In a post on their website, Firefox said: “Online comparison shopping is more popular than ever, but it’s often hard to know when to buy to get the best deal.

“With Firefox Price Wise, you can add products to your Price Watcher list and get a desktop notification automatically every time the price drops.

“Users can even click through directly from their list to purchase as soon as the price changes, making online shopping more affordable and efficient.”

This is currently in its early test stage and is only available in the US for now but it could help users save money when buying products on the web.

Other browsers also have similar features available via third-party add-ons but this is the first time such an option has been baked into a web browser.

Firefox says that five major retailers are already part of the software with stores such as Best Buy, eBay, Amazon, Walmart, and The Home Depot all included.

This list of retailers were among the top 10 visited by Firefox users and the firm says it is working to expand to more retailers in the future.

If you want to give it a try in time for the Black Friday sales, Price Wise is available in beta from Mozilla’s Test Pilot site.

The news comes as Google has just announced a major change coming to its own software.

The US technology firm says version 71 of Chrome, that is expected to arrive in December, will show warnings for certain websites that offer subscription services.

Google has emphasised warnings will appear on pages that have “insufficient mobile subscription information” in an attempt to prevent users from taking on “surprising charges”.

Explaining the forthcoming change, Google said: “Every month, millions of Chrome users encounter pages with insufficient mobile subscription information.

“Surprising charges that come from unclear communication are a poor user experience. That’s why starting from Chrome 71 (December 2018), Chrome will show a warning before these pages, so that users can make informed decisions when signing up to mobile based subscription services.

“Users will be offered the choice to proceed to the page or go back if they were unaware that they were entering a billing page.”
