Chelsea may break TRANSFER RECORD after beating Liverpool, Spurs to first January signing

Chelsea splashed out a fee of around Β£70million to get Kepa Arrizabalaga from Athletic Bilbao in the summer.

And they could be about to fork out a huge fee again for 20-year-old Borussia Dortmund star Christian Pulisic.

According to the Mail, Chelsea have won the battle for the American winger ahead of Liverpool and Tottenham.

Pulisic, who played against England at Wembley on Thursday, is out of contract in 2020 when he will be available on a free.

German giants Dortmund plan to cash in on him at the end of this season but Chelsea are said to be keen to push the deal through earlier.

There is the potential for them to be slapped with a transfer ban following revelations at how they allegedly recruited young players and Chelsea will now push for the deal to be done in January.

Dortmund are top of the Bundesliga but Pulisic has fallen down the pecking order following the emergence of Jadon Sancho.

They are keen to hand him a new deal but Pulisic is refusing to open talks – forcing Dortmund to sell early. The Mail claim a fee of around Β£70m has been mooted.

Pulisic this week admitted it was his dream to play in the Premier League.

“England, the Premier League, is a league where lots of kids dream of playing,” he said.

“So there is no reason why maybe one day I won’t play here.”

But Pulisic insisted he was enjoying his season at Borussia Dortmund, who are flying in the Bundesliga.

“We are having a great year at Dortmund and I am enjoying every moment of that,” he said.

“When the time comes for me to talk in the breaks about my future, then that’s when those things happen. Reading these articles [about me], I tend to stay away from that stuff. I know it is going to be there but it is not my priority.”
