The regions of the UK with the most burglaries REVEALED – is your area safe?

Although London is now being referred to as the ‘city of crime’, a recent investigation by Sellhousefast.uk proves that there are a number of other regions with an extremely high crime rate.

Sellhouse investigated the number of household burglaries in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, unveiling the most and least dangerous parts of the nation.

The property company analysed statistics for the month of September 2018, using data from data.police.uk to find the police forces that reported the highest number of burglaries in their area.

At the top of the rank with a whopping 2,450 burglaries was Greater Manchester Police.

This translates to a shocking statistic of more than 80 burglaries each day.

Behind them was as West Midlands Police with 2,379 burglaries reported and West Yorkshire with 2,086.

Meanwhile, Lancashire Constabulary and South Yorkshire Police held the fourth and fifth highest numbers with 1,212 and 1,168 respectively.

The police forces who reported the lowest number of burglaries were the City of London Police with just eight.

Dyfed-Powys police in Wales were just above them with 131 reported burglaries – the equivalent of four burglaries a day.

And Cumbria Constabulary, which is said to be one of the top performing police forces, had 193.

Wiltshire Police fell just above with 265, and Norfolk Constabulary had 273.

It may come as a surprise that the City of London held the fewest amount of reported burglaries.

However, Sellhouse point out that the area covered by the City of London police force is considerably smaller than the other areas found in the research.

The investigators also found that there was no data available for the Metropolitan Police Service and Thames Valley Police.

Burglars have previously revealed the most common way criminals break into your home.

Across the whole of England and Wales, jewellery is the most stolen item (in 38.5 per cent of areas).

In the North East machinery and tools were always the most stolen item (in 23.1 per cent of areas).

The safest cities against burglary are Plymouth, Exeter and Turo, whereas the least safe cities for burglary are Leeds, Bradford and Wakefield.
