Red Dead 2 Online release date: PS4 and Xbox One multiplayer trailer coming soon?

We now know that the Red Dead Redemption 2 online release date has been set for close to the end of November.

This is a fact confirmed by parent company Take-Two Interactive during a recent financial report.

However, an exact day for launch wasn’t revealed, with only the barest details given on the upcoming project.

So when will the official Red Dead 2 Online release date be announced for PS4 and Xbox One?

While Rockstar Games has not revealed how they hope to handle this announcement, it seems likely that a new trailer will be launched for the new multiplayer mode.

An extensive multiplayer trailer was released before the launch of GTA Online, giving fans their first look at what Rockstar had in store.

This was a good starting point for fans and also provided a good look at what would be included.

From what we have seen so far, the new Red Dead Online beta will include some kind of intro chapter.

References have been found to a prison breakout, suggesting that players will need to escape before they can start their online outlaw careers.

So a trailer showcasing this introduction to the game would certainly help to build up hype for launch day.

And throwing in an official release date for the Red Dead Redemption 2 online beta wouldn’t be a bad move either.

If Rockstar Games does choose to announce the Red Dead beta via a new trailer, we could see something pop up next week.

And if the development team is still hoping to release Red Dead Online, the last week of November will be their last chance to do so.

Rockstar has already said they hope to alternate between updates for GTA 5 Online and Red Dead Online, so announcing on a Tuesday would fit into this well.

Here’s what Rockstar told IGN before the release of RDR2 revealing that they hope to keep both multiplayer modes playable for fans.

“We still have big plans for Grand Theft Auto Online, and we will continue to roll out updates for the foreseeable future.

“We vaguely plan to stagger the updates of both games so that players can switch between the two, but our development plans may not always allow this!

“We think there will be a lot to love about Red Dead Online for fans of Grand Theft Auto Online, but we think that Red Dead Online will generate its own audience ready for something entirely new – however, exactly what form Red Dead Online will take as it finds it’s feet, we are not sure ourselves, but we think really want a focus on role-playing and morality.

“That may all change as the game comes out, but that’s the direction we are heading in now!

“And we are going to be working together on that with our incredible community to make this online experience into something amazing.”

Rockstar could, of course, decide to drop the news of the Red Dead Online release date anytime they fancy.

The studio isn’t known for big flashy stunts, so the information could just be released via an understated message on Twitter.

Take-Two’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has also dropped hints about the scope the company has planned for the new multiplayer experience, telling investors:

“My belief is that Red Dead Redemption 2 will shatter expectations and that the online experience also will be extraordinary, but unexpected. And my view is that all great hits are, by their very nature, unexpected.

“So that’s the goal. There is an expectation around the table, here, of course, there’s an expectation at Rockstar Games, and there is an expectation on the part of consumers.”
