Cheryl through the ages: Former X Factor judge’s ever-changing looks in pictures

Cheryl, who hails from Newcastle upon Tyne, shot to fame in late 2002, after appearing on the ITV show Popstars: The Rivals.

The singer, now 35, went on to win a place in the girl band, Girls Aloud, and later, in 2009, launched her solo career.

Her time in the spotlight has seen her step out in many different ensembles – with her style visibly changing over the years.

So, what does Cheryl look like now – and how does her current aesthetic compare to her younger self?

Earlier this month, Cheryl surprised fans as she appeared with a very different appearance.

Rather than her long brunette locks, the star had cut her tresses into a stunning short style.

The mother-of-one wore her new ‘do in tousled waves, as she stepped out in public.

The singer looked relaxed in a vibrant yellow coat and black T-shirt for the occasion.

Last month, Cheryl performed at a celebration of Prince Charles’ 70th birthday – ahead of the royal reaching the milestone last Wednesday.

Arriving at the We are most Amused and Amazed – Comedy Gala at The London Palladium, she wore a stunning red dress, with her long hair cascading around her shoulders.

Her outfit featured a seriously high slashed design, as well as one long-sleeve.

Cheryl recently discussed her appearance, telling The Sunday Times that she had changed since the arrival of her son Bear – who she shares with ex-boyfriend Liam Payne – last year.

“My whole body, even my face, everything’s changed since Bear was born,” she said.

“But I feel like I’m better than who I was. I don’t care what my body looks like in that respect. I’m not obsessive about it.”

Cheryl, who is an ambassador for L’Oréal Elvive, also previously spoke about her hair in an advert for the brand’s hair products.

“There was a phase I went through where I wanted to experiment, and I wanted blonde hair like Beyonce,” she told the camera.

“So, I sat for 12 hours in a salon, only for it to look hideous.”

The star sported blonde locks while she was in Girls Aloud back in 2004, as well as more recently, in 2014.

During her time in the pop group, her style was similar to typical fashion choices of the noughties – such as crop tops and low-rise jeans.

However, one particular aspect of her look seems to have remained a constant over the years: her long trousers.

Since her time in Girls Aloud, Cheryl has been spotted a number of times wearing this style of clothing, which billow over her feet.

It’s been claimed this could be to do with the star disliking the look of her feet – which she addressed in 2010.

Speaking to Fearne Cotton for Radio 1’s Live Lounge, she begged that a camera wasn’t directed towards her footwear, insisting: “Don’t show my feet.

“Don’t put the camera on my feet. A lot of people have foot fetishes, but they wouldn’t have them over mine. They’re dainty, they’re a size three but there’s nothing pretty about them.”
