If you’re wondering why Fortnite is down, it’s because Epic Games is ushering in update 6.30.

As part of the update, Epic Games will carry out server maintenance on PS4, Xbox One, PC, Nintendo Switch, iOS and Android.

The news was announced on Twitter, alongside plans to take Battle Royale servers offline from 10am UK time.

“Prepare for a Fortnite face-off as the v6.30 update arrives!” reads an Epic Games tweet. “Downtime begins Wednesday, November 14 at 5 AM ET (1000 UTC).”

This means the game will go down at 10am GMT if you live in the UK.

There’s no official end time for the server maintenance, but downtime doesn’t tend to last much longer than a couple of hours.

With this in mind, expect Fortnite to come back online at midday in the UK.

While the servers are down, Fortnite fans can download the latest Battle Royale update.

According to the patch notes, version 6.30 introduces the Mounted Turret Gun.

The description suggests that players will be able to place the turret wherever they please.

“Place the Mounted Turret and hop in to apply some suppressive fire! Careful not to overheat,” reads an Epic post.

Another new feature that’s been confirmed for the next update is mouse and keyboard support for Xbox One.

Xbox One mouse and keyboard support was announced during the recent XO18 event.

Epic Games has also announced plans to remove Glider redeploy from all competitive game modes.

“The Glider Redeploy test has concluded,” reads a recent tweet. “This feature will be disabled in Solo, Duos, and Squads playlists once v6.30 releases. It will remain available in Playground and select LTMs.”
