Roger Federer reveals he got Novak Djokovic insight when one thing happened

Roger Federer and Djokovic are set to fight it out for more glory at the ATP Finals in London, with the duo continuing to battle for tennis’ biggest prizes.

It has been a fine year for both men, with Federer winning Grand Slam No 20 at the Australian Open back in January.

Djokovic, written off by many due to his constant injury troubles, has rediscovered his mojo in 2018.

The Serb will be the favourite in London when the tournament kicks off having won the Wimbledon and US Open titles this year.

And Federer has now revealed he got an insight into Novak Djokovic’s style and state of mind when the duo played at the Laver Cup earlier this year.

“The same. It’s intense. It’s good tennis,” Federer said when asked how his rivalry with Djokovic was.

“We care about winning. We don’t like losing.

“So I can tell you that right now. And yeah, it was a fun week in Chicago. I really enjoyed playing doubles with him.

“I think it was interesting for both of us to see into our minds and into our lives a little bit more.

“But I think you it didn’t change much, and that was our wish as well.

“It shouldn’t change. I think people enjoy the rivalry.

“We do as well. So, yeah, it’s tough and fair, like the way it’s supposed to be.”

Federer recently lost to Djokovic at the Paris Masters.

And he admits that Djokovic is ‘on a roll’ going into the ATP finals.

“I’m looking forward to a rest now and good preparation for London,” he said.

“Novak is obviously on a roll, you can feel it. He protects his serve very well. I think I did the same and at the end it came down to a few things.

“Overall I’m happy with my game. It’s better than it was last week in Basel [at the Swiss Indoors].

“I won that tournament, here I played the semis and I needed someone of Novak’s calibre to beat me so that’s alright.”
