Midterm elections take place halfway through a President’s term, and give the US the chance to reveal their feelings about Trump for the first time since his election in 2016.
There were 435 seats up for election in the House of Representatives and 33 out of 100 seats up for the vote in the Senate.
Both the House and Senate are in charge of passing through new laws, known as bills.
