PSG team news: Predicted PSG line up vs Napoli – Cavani benched, new signing debut

Paris Saint-Germain manager Thomas Tuchel is expected to shuffle his squad for the French side’s crunch Champions League clash against Napoli.

PSG are currently third in Group C, a point behind the Italian side and a further point back from with three matches left to play.

Uruguayan striker Edinson Cavani is a major doubt for the meeting with his former club after missing the past two matches due to a thigh injury.

Speaking in his pre-match press conference yesterday, Tuchel refused to be drawn on whether Cavani will feature.

“I can’t say, it’s Monday afternoon so I can’t say who will play,” he said.

“Cavani is with us and he’s trained, we’ll see later.”

The 31-year-old has missed the recent wins over Marseille and Lille with Kylian Mbappe deployed as a central striker in his absence.

If Cavani was to play, it would be his first appearance at the Stadio San Paolo since his departure back in 2013.

Meanwhile, summer signing Gianluigi Buffon is in line to make his debut for PSG after serving a three-match suspension.

The Italian veteran was banned following his comments about referee Michael Oliver in the wake of Juventus’ defeat to Real Madrid in their quarter-final class last season.

Touched has rotated Buffon and Alphonse Areola in Ligue 1, although the 40-year-old is expected to start here.

“Gigi and Thiago [Silva] will help us, Gigi already knows the stadium and the atmosphere and he’ll be a big help in the dressing room,” Tuchel said.

“We have confidence in Areola too, but Gigi is coming back from a ban and he deserves to play in Italy against a team he knows.

“I’m proud to have two goalkeepers who respect each other very much, it’s beautiful.”

Elsewhere, PSG expected to be without Dani Alves, Laywin Kurzawa and Colin Dagaba as they recover from injury while Julian Draxler and Thilo Kehrer are expected to drop out and make way for Presnel Kimpembe and Adrien Rabiot.
