Carol Vorderman: ‘I love that woman’ Coronation Street star gushes over Countdown legend

Carol Vorderman, 57, stunned in a semi-sheer navy frock at the awards in London, which was filmed ahead of its air date.

The former Countdown favourite bumped into Coronation Street actress, Kym Marsh, who plays Michelle Connor in the soap, at the star-studded bash.

And Kym, 42, was certainly pleased to have spent time with the age-defying beauty as she later declared her love for her.

In her latest column with OK! Magazine, the soap star spilled all on her night at the Pride of Britain Awards 2018.

She divulged: “I caught up with the night’s host, Carol Vorderman – I love that woman.

“She’s such a sweet person and there are no airs and graces with her.”

Kym added: “She’s down to earth and a genuinely nice person.”

The Coronation Street actress attended the event with her boyfriend Scott Ratcliffe but she admitted they left early as her beau works away with the army.

“Scott and I didn’t stay out too late, as the following day was Scott’s last day in the UK,” she said.

“He’s now away for two months with the army and we didn’t want our last hours together to be spent hungover.”

Pining for her man, Kym admitted she will be missing Scott when it comes to a few weeks apart.

She continued: “At the time of writing, Scott’s only been gone for a couple of days, so I’m okay at the moment – ask me in a few weeks!”

Meanwhile, Carol, who has been divorced twice, recently admitted she is enjoying her life as a single woman.

Speaking about her approach to finding love, Carol Vorderman said she is “realistic” about it.

“Half of all marriages disintegrate,” she told The Mirror. “Of those that last longer than 10 years, of what percentage of those are happy? In all my years I’ve rarely met any.

“If couples have found that, they should be celebrated — that’s fantastic. But if they haven’t, that’s equally okay,” she continued. “We shouldn’t beat ourselves up.”

“I’m just very realistic. It means I make the best of my life because I’m not clinging on to any dream whatsoever.”

After recently saying she’s “happily, blissfully single”, Carol remained tight-lipped about her current relationship status.

“I’m not telling. I never tell,” she teased.

The Daily Mirror Pride of Britain Awards, in partnership with TSB, will be broadcast on ITV on November 6 at 8pm.
