Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic claim made by former star

That’s according to Jonas Bjorkman who says the trio can dominate games with ease.

“They thought in a completely different way than the way players did at the beginning of my career like Mats Wilander, Pete Sampras and Andre Agassi,” the former world No. 4 told Expressen.

“When I started playing, the best players could feel sometimes for some of their opponents.

“Sampras rarely won 6-0, even if he could it for many times in his career.”

Federer, meanwhile, has been accused by Greg Rusedski of trying to make up excuses for his poor first-serve percentage following his Paris Masters third-round win over Fabio Fognini.

Having received a bye for the opening two rounds, Roger Federer returned to action against Fognini.

It wasn’t vintage Federer on display, but the world No. 3 had to much class for the Italian.

Rusedski reckons he’ll need to up the ante as the tournament progress though.

“I think if you look at most players who are serve-based like myself or [Pete] Sampras, Federer is a complete player in that respect,” he told Sky Sports.

“As one of his biggest assets he should know what it takes.

“For me it feels like he’s forcing it.

“I found that comment he said about altitude between Basel and Paris and I’ve won Basel and then went on to win Paris and I didn’t really feel there was a big difference there.

“I think he’s giving a few little excuses there for it because he knows 36 per cent isn’t good enough even though he answered the question.

“Sometimes when you try too hard as a player, that’s a mistake you have.

“That’s what I’m seeing from Federer, he’s trying too hard; not flowing like he normally does and have that belief.

“He has to get that back if he’s going to keep on being as great as he is.

“He’s good enough to beat people like Fognini.

“Will it be good enough to beat Anderson or Nishikori in the next round? That’s a question mark.

“If he plays like today then I don’t think he’ll get through that one.”

Federer will lock horns with Kei Nishikori later tonight.
