Andrea Bocelli new album Si SMASHES 20-year chart record

Time To Say Goodbye made him a global star and a huge fan favourite in the UK.

22 years later, the love affair continues. The Italian tenor performed Panis Angelicus at the Royal Wedding of Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank and is about to perform two sell-out nights at London’s O2 Arena this weekened.

He can hit the stage tonight knowing that Si has taken him to the top of the UK album charts, beating the soundtracks to A Star Is Born and Bohemian Rhapsody along the way.

Bocelli has also smashed another huge chart record in the process.

Si is not only Bocelli’s first UK Number One album, it is the first classical Number One in the Official Albums Chart since James Horner’s Titanic soundtrack, which topped the chart for three weeks in early 1998.

Bocelli couldn’t contain his joy at the news: “Life never ceases to amaze. I would never have imagined achieving this, even in a country that welcomed me from the very beginning.”

“Yet beyond the numbers and the charts, what really counts is the affection of an audience – the handshakes, the smiles, the applause.

“My heartfelt thanks to all those people who wanted to reward my latest effort. A big thank you also on behalf of my little, great Matteo who, these days, has been living by my side – an indescribable experience.”

Bocelli’s son Matteo has accompanied him on his current tour and features on the new track Fall on Me which appears over the end credits of the Disney film The Nutcracker and the Four Realms.

Si also includes collaborations with Ed Sheeran, Dua Lipa and Josh Groban.
