Arsenal MOCK Tottenham after Carabao Cup draw pits north London rivals together

Both Arsenal and Spurs progressed to the last eight of the League Cup with the Gunners seeing off League One Blackpool on Wednesday night.

Tottenham beat fellow Premier League side West Ham at the London Stadium with Son Heung-Min bagging a brace.

Both Arsenal and Tottenham are competing in Europe this season.

Arsenal have started their Europa League campaign well, winning all three of their games in the competition.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have struggled in the Champions League – Europe’s premier competition.

Spurs have picked up just one point from their first three group games and look unlikely to make the knockout stages.

And Arsenal have mocked that, appearing to insinuate that Mauricio Pochettino’s men may soon be in the Europa League too.

Arsenal’s official website wrote: “It doesn’t matter if it’s the Premier League, FA Cup, League Cup… or maybe even in Europe later this season. Arsenal v Spurs is always a huge game.”

When asked for his thoughts about the tie and the competitiveness between the two sides, Arsenal boss Unai Emery said: “Yes, I knew this rivalry.

“Not like you or like every supporter here in London or for supporters of Tottenham or Arsenal.

“But we are going to play against them in the Premier League or like now in the Carabao Cup and I am going to research a lot of information about this.”

Pochettino is also looking forward to the encounter, which is due for December.

“I think it will be such an exciting game,” Pochettino said.

“I am so excited to play and to face Arsenal. And of course Unai Emery, he is a very good friend of ours, and he has a great coaching staff.

“I think he’s a top manager with top coaching staff, I have big, big respect for them.

“And of course, he is doing a great job and he is going to do a great job in Arsenal. We are so happy to face Arsenal.”
