The Big Dog then relinquished the Universal Championship and had an emotional moment with his Shield team-mates as they all struck their signature fist bump pose with tears in their eyes.
The four-time world champion then went back home to fight the illness but Rollins and Ambrose stayed behind to battle for the RAW Tag Team Championships and dedicate their win to him.
The Brothers in Arms defeated Dolph Ziggler and Drew McIntyre for the belts but the celebrations were short-lived as Ambrose turned heel and stabbed his partner in the back.
The Lunatic Fringe launched a savage attack and capped it off by smashing the Intercontinental Champion’s head on the exposed concrete floor at ringside with a vicious Dirty Deeds.
Last night Rollins asked his fellow RAW Tag Team Champion to come out and explain his actions in his bid to patch things up.
Ambrose, though, just stood in the stands and angered The Kingslayer as he didn’t say a word and instead watched him with a blank and cold stare.
The Architect called the ex-WWE Champion a “cold-hearted bastard” and accused him of spitting in Reigns’ face during the most emotional night in the history of The Shield by making it all about himself.
The dual champion then stated that he will be keeping his eyes fixed on him and promised to make his life a living hell.
Rollins said: “You know what, man? You really are a cold-hearted bastard…
“On the most emotional night in the history of The Shield you spat on us, on everything we stand for.
“A night when Roman leaves to battle leukaemia and you make it all about you.
“Somehow, someway you make it all about you Ambrose.
“You know what? You want the spotlight? You want it so bad? Well you got it.
“Because I am fixed on you for as long as I live and I’m gonna make your life a living hell.
“You know what, man? Maybe it wasn’t just a nickname. You really are a soulless lunatic.
“You don’t want to come down here? Then you stay right there, I’ll come up there and beat an answer out of you.”
Rollins made his way to the stands but then Ambrose continued his mind games as he walked away.
