Melania Trump SHOCKED by ‘EYE-OPENING’ Africa trip says President after ‘sh*thole’ remark

The President make the comments during a sit-down Fox News interview with Laura Ingraham.

Asked about his wife by Ms Ingraham, Trump replied: “She’s doing fantastically, really good.

“She’s doing a great job, just got back from Africa.

“And she saw some things that were very eye-opening and tremendous poverty. Tremendous poverty. So we’re trying to help.”

Trump did not outline whether the US is planning to introduce any new poverty allaying policies.

The First Lady embarked on a three nation Africa tour earlier this month visiting Ghana, Kenya and Egypt.

During the Ghana visit Mrs Trump visited a former slave trading fort and a hall named after former President Barack Obama.

At the slave fort she commented: “I will never forget the incredible experience and the stories I heard.

“The dungeons that I saw, it’s really something that people should see and experience.”

Mrs Trump’s visit was widely seen as a bridge-building exercise after her husband allegedly described African countries as “sh*tholes” back in January.

During a bipartisan Oval Office immigration meeting the President apparently asked: “Why are we having all these people from sh*thole countries come here?”

The First Lady’s fashion choices caused controversy during her Africa visit.

During a trip to Nairobi National Park she was photographed waring a pith helmet, which some associate with European imperialism.

In response Mrs Trump commented: “I want to talk about my trip and not what I wear.

“That’s very important, what I do, what we’re doing with US aid, and I wish people would focus on what I do.”

President Trump tweeted support for his wife during her visit.

He posted: “The people love her, and she loves them! It is a beautiful thing to see.”
