US bomb scare: CNN sent ANOTHER suspicious package – Atlanta HQ targeted

CNN’s president today revealed another suspicious package had been sent to the network, this time to its Atlanta HQ.

Jeff Zucker revealed the package had been intercepted in an Atlanta post office, adding all staff are safe.

Mr Zucker said there was no imminent danger and that since Wednesday all mail to CNN has been screened at offsite facilities.

CNN said the package appeared similar to those which prompted a nationwide scare last week.

Mr Zucker said: “All mail, at all CNN domestic bureaus, is being screened at off-site facilities as of last Wednesday, so this package would NOT have come directly to the CNN Center, even if it hadn’t been intercepted first.

“Our screening process is working and we will keep you updated as we learn more.”

Police were called at 9.38am to reports of a suspect package at an Atlanta post office.

The Time Warner Center in New York, where CNN’s New York operation is located, was evacuated on Wednesday after a suspicious package turned up there.

Today’s delivery comes as a man accused of mailing bombs to the network and some of US President Donald Trump’s leading critics was due to make his first appearance before a federal judge in Miami on Monday.

Cesar Sayoc, a former male stripper and part-time pizza deliveryman, was arrested on Friday on suspicion of mailing at least 14 pipe bombs to CNN, a range of prominent Democrats, and other frequent targets of Trump’s scorn, including former President Barack Obama.

Sayoc is due to appear in court in Miami later today.
