OnePlus 6T leak could bring bad news for the Google Pixel 3

OnePlus 6T will be shown off by the Shenzhen-based firm on Monday, October 29, and is expected to introduce a number of notable improvements from the OnePlus 6.

OnePlus have already confirmed the 6T will come with a fingerprint scanner underneath its display, allowing for a new and futuristic way to unlock the device.

This will combine with the firm’s facial recognition method to give users a variety of ways to access the hardware.

OnePlus 6T is expected to be powered by a Snapdragon 845 chipset, just like the current OnePlus 6.

And it is assumed the hardware will come in multiple varieties, meaning versions with 6GB or 8GB of RAM could be available.

But ahead of the OnePlus 6T unveiling in New York City on Monday, October 29, the device appears to have plagued by a number of leaks.

German publication WinFuture recently posted alleged pictures of the OnePlus 6T.

The hardware was shown featuring extremely small bezels with a teardrop-shaped notch at the top.

The back of the device was shown with a similar dual-camera system to the current OnePlus 6.

And, as has been confirmed by OnePlus, the 6T was shown without a headphone jack.

But now the OnePlus 6T appears to have been hit by another leak that may have just revealed how powerful the phone will be, and it could bring bad news for the Google Pixel 3.

A listing for the OnePlus 6T recently appeared on Geekbench, a site dedicated to analysing the internals of a smartphone and awarding a score based on its capability.

OnePlus 6T was quoted as arriving with a Snapdragon 845 processor and 8GB of RAM in the post.

Geekbench awarded the model in question a multi-core performance score of 8,925, a number that sits above the OnePlus 6’s 8,881 tally.

But Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL owners who have downloaded Geekbench software have found the performance of Google’s new devices is rated substantially lower.

Tom’s Guide recently quoted the Pixel 3 for producing a multi-core score of 7,316 and the Pixel 3 XL a 7,684 figure.

Both Google flagships come with the same Snapdragon 845 processor but only have 4GB of RAM.

Such a difference in performance could allow the OnePlus 6T to perform more capably under heavy usage than Google’s latest and greatest.

However, it is worth noting while benchmarking scores are a noteworthy barometer for performance, they do not always reflect real world usage.

And it should also be taken into consideration that nothing surrounding the OnePlus 6T’s specifications has been officially confirmed.

However, the Chinese tech giant will be discussing everything about its forthcoming flagship very soon.
