Leicester helicopter crash: Gary Lineker releases emotional statement after hosting MOTD

After Leicester’s 1-1 draw with West Ham at the King Power Stadium, a helicopter owned by chairman Vichai Srivaddhanapraba, crashed almost immediately after take off.

It is unknown whether Srivaddhanapraba was on board at the time of the incident, however it is believed that the Foxes’ Director of Football Jon Rudkin and vice-chairman Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha weren’t on board.

As of yet, there have been no casualties confirmed, although it is feared that several are dead.

Lineker hosted Match of the Day at the normal time of 10.30pm on Saturday night, but he took to Twitter after the programme and posted an emotional statement.

It read: “That was the most difficult @BBCMOTD I’ve ever hosted.

“Thoughts are with everyone at Leicester City. A terrible tragedy. Heartbreaking.”
