Glenn Hoddle: BT Sport release statement after he COLLAPSED in studio

Hoddle, a regular on the BT Sport panel, was all set to appear on the BT Sport Score show this afternoon.

Robbie Savage had this morning shared a video on Instagram showing Hoddle looking in good health.

But BT Sport presenter Jake Humphrey announced on Twitter the Tottenham legend had fallen “seriously ill”.

He also added that BT Sport Score, their version of Sky Sports’ Gillette Soccer Saturday, would not be televised today.

Messages of support from around the world soon flooded social media with Gary Lineker calling it “hugely worrying” and Spurs legend Ossie Ardiles sending his “thoughts and prayers” to Hoddle and his family.

And BT Sport have now released a brief statement on Twitter, adding to the messages of support for Hoddle to recover.

“The thoughts and wishes of everyone here at BT Sport are with Glenn and his family at this time,” the statement read.

“Your friends, colleagues and the whole football family are with you.”

BT Sport’s schedule for the day was completely revamped, with no coverage of the 3pm Premier League matches.

But Leicester’s match against West Ham is being shown live on BT and Humphrey addressed Hoddle’s situation, sending a heartfelt message to the former England boss.

“Good afternoon and thanks for joining us and welcome to an overcast King Power Stadium where, to be honest, the weather really reflects the mood of all of us,” Humphrey said.

“I’m sure you’ve seen the news from earlier today that this morning Glenn Hoddle was taken ill at the BT Sport studios.

“The good news is he’s now at hospital, getting the very best treatment possible.

“But whatever Glenn Hoddle is to you, whether it’s one of the greatest footballers the country’s ever produced, a wonderful colleague, a much-loved family member, the outpouring of love and support today has been quite something to behold and of course all of us at BT Sport absolutely add to that.

“We’re standing alongside you Glenn, sending you our very best for a speedy recovery.”
