Shock moment CNN News forced to STOP live broadcast after BOMB THREAT in New York – VIDEO

The CNN journalists were forced to interrupt the broadcast as they reported on the news of and Barack Obama‘s residences had received two explosive devices addressed to the two politicians.

CNN staff member can be seen filing out of the newsroom as the two reporters apologise to the audience for the upcoming interruption.

Poppy Harlow said: “We’re going to jump in there. There is a fire alarm.”

Colleague Jim Sciutto added: “There’s a fire alarm, you might have heard, in the background. We’re going to find out what the latest is here and we’re going to be right back.”

Speaking to colleagues after evacuating, Mr Sciutto said: “We’re standing outside our headquarters here, Poppy Harlow is with me. There’s a New York Police bomb squad unit here, also members of the Strategic Response Group. There’s a couple hundreds of us here.

“As it happens, Poppy and I were on the air reporting about a series of other explosive devices received at the residences of the Clintons and Obama. There is now suspicion those devices were linked. Now if this is linked to those – the timing is at the very least suspicious.”

Harlow and Sciutto later resumed their coverage from outside the Time Warner Center, saying emergency respondents had confirmed a suspicious parcel was intercepted inside the CNN mailroom.

Ms Harlow insisted: “We are outside safely, all of our CNN colleagues that we know of are outside right now. Everyone is safe as we can see.”

CNN President Jeff Zucker emailed New York employees warning the company “out of an abundance of caution” after a suspicious package had reached the mail room.

Mr Zucker said: “We are working with authorities to determine the severity of the situation. The NYPD is on scene, and we are working closely with them to take every precaution. We are also checking all bureaus around the world, out of a complete abundance of caution.”

Federal authorities revealed they are investigating suspicious packages sent to former US President Barack Obama and former Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton this week.

Bombs were supposedly sent to the two Democrats earlier this week.

In a statement issued today, the Secret Service said it “has intercepted two suspicious packages addressed to Secret Service protectees,” who were identified as Mrs Clinton and Mr Obama.

The FBI said it was investigating the package.

The device addressed to Hillary Clinton was discovered at her home in the New York suburb of Chappaqua, Westchester County, late on Tuesday by a Secret Service employee who screens mail for her.

Chappaqua police said authorities in New Castle assisted the FBI, the Secret Service and Westchester County police with the investigation into the package sent to Clinton.

“The matter is currently under federal investigation,” the police said in a statement, referring questions to the FBI.

The package addressed to Barack Obama was intercepted by Secret Service personnel in Washington DC early on Wednesday.

Devices were also found in the offices of the San Diego Union-Tribune and Democratic Senator Kamala Harris.’

The White House condemned the bomb scares, and in a strongly-worded statement, Press Secretary Sarah Sanders said: “We condemn the attempted violent attacks recently made against President Obama, President Clinton, Secretary Clinton, and other public figures.

“These terrorising acts are despicable, and anyone responsible will be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law.

“The United States Secret Service and other law enforcement agencies are investigating and will take all appropriate actions to protect anyone threatened by these cowards.”
