Liverpool fans are worried after what Reds did in training ahead of Red Star clash

The Reds take on Red Star at Anfield this evening and Klopp will be hoping his side can bounce back from their disappointing defeat to Napoli in their last Champions League outing.

Before taking on Napoli, the Reds were filmed applauding Alisson and Roberto Firmino for their birthday in training.

And the squad did the same thing before their session at Melwood yesterday, this time for Fabinho.

Liverpool Echo reporter James Pearce posted a video of the ritual and players can be heard singing “happy birthday” before clapping their Brazilian team-mate.

However, superstitious fans were quick to make the same comment after watching the clip.

“Please don’t. Last time we did that we lost against Napoli,” one fan wrote.

Another said: “We lost last time we did this.”

“The last time we did this we didn’t have single shot on target,” a third fan wrote.

A fourth supporter said: “Man…. this is not gonna end well.”

Klopp has urged his side to be prepared for a difficult fight against their Serbian opposition and has called upon the home supporters to make themselves heard at Anfield.

“Offensively and defensively, Serbian teams are always well organised, they know how to defend and are not bothered to be a bit more aggressive,” he said.

“So, we need to be ready for a really hard fight, we need to fight for each little square metre of space with all we have.

“For that, we need our crowd, that’s very important.

“We learned last year especially that atmosphere can make the difference.

“That’s what we have to make sure again.”
