Man Utd news: Liverpool legend Souness hints at Pogba exit – ‘they’ve lost patience’

Pogba was at fault for one of the goals in United’s recent 2-2 draw with rivals Chelsea in the Premier League.

And his future at the club remains uncertain after a public fall-out with manager Jose Mourinho earlier in the season.

The Frenchman questioned Mourinho’s tactics after a drab 0-0 draw with Wolves.

And Souness thinks United might now be fed as with their record signing continues to underperform.

“I think they’ve run out of patience with him, you cannot as a manager keep saying ‘this is what you need to do’,” Souness told Sky Sports’ Monday Night Football.

Pogba lost the run of Chelsea defender Antonio Rudiger, when he opened the scoring with a free header at Stamford Bridge on Saturday.

And the former Liverpool midfielder hit out at the 25-year-old for the error and claimed he does not do the ‘basics’ right at times.

“This boy has been blessed with the most wonderful athleticism,” Souness added.

“He’s six foot four, I’m sure he can leap like a stag and run like the wind. You’d think this was tailor made for him.

“You don’t have to be six foot four to prevent someone from getting a clear header at your goal.

“Someone my size could prevent Rudiger getting that header if you really wanted to.

“He’s got fabulous technique, he’s got fabulous athleticism, but for me he just doesn’t do the basics right.”

However, Souness, who has been openly critical of Pogba throughout the season, insists there is hope for him yet.

“But there is a player there,” he said. “I’m seen as his biggest critic but his manager is not happy with him.

“I’ve been a manager and I’m saying to myself, like Jose will be saying to himself, ‘what a player this boy could be if you would just listen and learn.’”
